The mention of Japan and South Korea is a big hint. I would hazard a guess that those countries were chosen not only because of the potential Samsung connection (South Korea), but also the big corps in Japan like Sony and then Nissan & Toyota on the automotive side.

Sony has been struggling for a whlie. That would be an interesting partnership on the consumer side.
