I don't need to, my phone lasts as long as it did on 3G in a smaller form factor. Sure there is all kinds of improvements to maintain that end user experience - that was my point. I'm not here to argue the mw draw on LTE vs 3G, nor does an average end user care. They just want their new shiny device to last the day without crapping out and having to be charged.

I wonder if the combination of a low power draw chip from POET + a Solar celled skin on a phone would allow for very little "plug in time" on a device like an iphone at all. That would be an interesting application.
