It is very interesting from a technology perspective.
It is also interesting to note that this article provides added insight that the industry knows that Moore's Law is indeed coming to an end and an alternative, financially viable technology is required to render Moore's Law obsolete.
Hybrid and 3-D technologies are potential solutions (only in part) ..... and at what cost ......
You cannot compare POET to these technologies on a direct comparison basis.
POET, if all claims come to be true (and we should find out in the next few weeks and months) is a superior solution because POET offers :-
1.0 Opto-Electrical Monolithic Capability (I have yet to find another technology that
provides this ground-breaking monolithic capability)
2.0 Superior speed performance
3.0 Greater reliability (higher yields by definition)
4.0 Lower power consumption
5.0 Lower BOM costs
POET has the potential to literally turn the industry on it's head.
But before we get ahead of ourselves, we need to see MS5, MS7, MS8 ...... and of course the "naming" of the main partner.
If PTK delivers on the 4 points above, ideally in a timely manner, the demand for a piece of this company will be spectacular.
So here's to the next few weeks and months and hoping that Taylor's team and Management deliver.
