The difference, SevenOdouble, is that when someone says "there are deadlines" this is a factual statement, be it correct or not. Not reason to feel personally attacked, even if that statement is false. It should be sufficient to explain your reasons why you come to a different conclusion. This would not only calm down emotions but would also increase your chances to make the people on this board understand your point, even if your opponent refuses to accept you argument.
And even if someone indeed attacked you personally it would be wise to not respond the same way, because in this case you wouldn't be any better than him.
