Great discussion! It's something that's crossed my mind so often, and I agree with many of the initial theories. Taking a glass half FULL look though, is the increasing possibility of a sudden buying frenzy. It will take a great news event, a rumoured or real link to a biggie, or validation or completion of any of the anticipated events in the CP. When this becomes tangible, it will transcend investors news, it will spread into mainstream news, with the angle being something along the lines of:

"A small Canadian Company has invented a new technology platform that has major players scrambling, leading to a massive share price appreciation."

I've imagined this often...and I don't think it's laughably unrealistic anymore.
