RapidIO is used to connect processors together...based on many different architectures including: INTEL, ARM, PowerPC, MIPS, DSP, FPGA etc.

Stephane Gagnon was promoting RapidIO (through the RTA/RapidIO Trade Association) as an open standard for the industry...
