Well put Scary. I'm glad I put my kids to bed before replying because at first I was annoyed at yet another black cloud rolling in to put a damper on our enthusiasm.
I read it again and I see where you are coming from. But one thing you need to understand is that everyone is different and they don't need the same things you need to carry on as a shareholder. I'm not criticizing you; I'm saying that everyone is different.
If I had to characterize your approach I would say that you prefer to focus on the warning signs and you get worried when you think that others may not see them, or give them enough weight. You also recall the past failures of the company with more clarity than someone like me, and they factor into your outlook. You are more of a 'show me' type shareholder and you want results, regardless of the effort (hence our dispute over Atomic's performance). As you noted in your post, you would prefer to be surprised by good news than to hope for it and it doesn't come.
I'll use myself as the converse example. I prefer to give the company the benefit of the doubt when they appear to change the plan midway through, without seeing it as a needless delay or a flip-flop. I also don't worry if delays might occur and I still feel that as long as good work is going on behind the scenes - even if we don't see it - we are still on track (Hence our dispute over Atomic's performance). Either way, I'm more interested in the effort than the outcome. Granted, I wouldn't stay that way perpetually, if the SP stays at 40-50 cents a year from now I will go insane. . .
My point is that there has to be room for both the forward-focused optimists, and the slightly-pessimistic pragmatists on the same board. As shareholders, many of us are fulfilled looking forward to milestones and possible deals, without as much concern about being disappointed.
I value your contribution to this forum (and Aves is cut from the same cloth), but I don't think it is necessary to discourage anyone optimistic posts (as opposed to the pumping kind that overtly encourage readers to 'buy shares now, before it's too late') for fear of disappointment. Some of us cope with mild disappointment. These milestones and partnerships have been announced by the company in the last couple of NRs, and I doubt any of us would be shareholders without the belief that we are on track to fulfilling these goals.
Again, don’t take this as a criticism, as though one kind of shareholder is better than another. The point I’m making is that this is just a discussion board, and I feel after all this time those of us still here can be trusted to be genuine, and not pushing an agenda to keep things warm an fuzzy.
