I remember the problems talked about during the last name change. I never bought or sold during that time but I remember it being said that the shares bought after the change were issued under the new name and could be sold easily. The problem, if I remember correctly, came when shares that were bought under the old company name were unable to be sold because the new share certificates were not distributed to all brokers by the trust company soon enough, leaving shareholders in limbo. I'll defer to someone who can confirm this but this is the explanation that I remember being given by those that contacted their broker and pushed for an explanation.
