TSX continues fall

Another day of record setting gold prices wasn't enough Tuesday to keep the S&P/TSX composite index from falling for the third day in a row. The index fell .57%, or 77.12 points, to close at 13541.75..
Yamana Gold Inc. shares traded hands more than 17 million times to rise almost 8%. Earlier in the day, Yamana was upgraded to "outperform" from "sector perform" by CIBC World Markets.
Orezone Resources Inc. shares climbed more than 13% after the company announced Monday that it had arranged underwriting for up to US$250 million of project debt for its Essakane gold project in Burkina Faso, West Africa.
Reitmans Ltd. shares were down more than 7% after announcing that sales in December for the five weeks ended January 5, 2008 decreased 0.6% while comparable store sales decreased 4.5%.
In the U.S., the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 1.86%, or 238.48 points to 12589.07 on Tuesday. The S&P 500 fell 1.84%, or points to 1416.18, while the Nasdaq dropped 2.36%, or 58.95 points to 2440.51.
