Wannaberight,
Thanks for your response, and inquiry about Boulder Creek...
Boulder Creek is a small town in the Santa Cruz mountains about 20 miles from Silicon Valley, and about 15 miles from the Pacific Ocean at the college / tourist town of Santa Cruz....with some of the best redwood forest and state parks in California!
As you read in my Bio, I grew up in the Silicon Valley before it became the high tech capital....back then it was just a beautiful agricutural center with fruit orchards full of apricot, cherry, prune, and walnut trees next to San Jose, Ca.
Now almost all of the orchards are gone and the whole valley has the highest price for homes in the U.S. ....that is why I live "over the Hill" in Bouder Creek, where I was at least able to purchase a home(in the forrest where I prefer with a small town atomsphere as compared to the crowded cities of the Valley) 20 years ago for $160,000...now my home is worth over $550,000, even with the sub prime mess...just because its close enough to "the Money Pit" (Silicon Valley) to be only a 45minute commute...some people have to travel 2 to 3 hours a day to get to the Valley!
Santa Cruz was my early "stomping grounds" in my youth for surfing, and I still love going there for the ocean and seafood dinners...the water is too cold for me now to keep surfing, but I love to photograph and fish there now....The weather here is some of the best in the world I think....we have a rainy season for about 4 months with temps around an average of 30 to 50 degrees, and then sunny weather for the rest of the year ( hardly a cloud to be found) with temps of 70 to maybe 95 on a hot day....the San Francisco Peninsula (between the Pacific and the Bay) creates a natural air conditioner for the area (some fog rolls over our mountains that cools down the hot days) I find this to be damn near prefect for me, as I don't like snow very much, ...just too much trouble to shove or drive in it!
I am already invested in BQI, with 4000 shares only, because most of my portfolio is in ARU....which has been most forunate for me! But as BQI move upward, I plan for more share purchases,
My construction career was satisfying and profitable, but I'm enjoying my retirement much more....no alarm clock in the morning, and I do what I want during the day...watch my investments in the mornings and fish in the afternoons!
Best Regards...and GO BQI...
