Interesting technical article from 1998 comparing the Kaapvaal and Pilbara cratons:

http://www.geo.uu.nl/~forth/publications/Zegers98b.pdf

If someone reading this has a geo background, your take on this article would be most welcomed.

The parts in the article that caught my eye are:

1) Maps of the two cratons on page 251, especially the shaded areas showing where Marble Bar and Nullagine (i.e. Beatons Creek) are

2) The sentence in the Discussion section in the lower right corner on page 255 that reads: "The lack of major gold deposits within the Lalla Rookh Basin remains an important difference". Not sure why this basin is singled out. I see on the Pilbara map that it is located a few dozen miles west of Marble Bar and it's labelled "LRB". Has Novo found the missing major deposits just to the east in Marble Bar and southeast in Beatons Creek? I hope so and soon!
