Northern Gold Mining Inc. Kirana Project Update | |
TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Jan. 2, 2009) - Northern Gold Mining Inc. (TSX VENTURE:NGM) has completed its 2008 drill programs and provides this update on the results from its Kirana property in the Kirkland Lake, Ontario area. Northern Gold Mining drilled 13,524 metres at the Fidelity area on the Kirana Project beginning in summer 2008. Forty drill holes totaling 6041 metres were drilled in the Fidelity area where initial surface sampling encountered high gold values, as reported earlier. Nineteen holes totaling 3800 metres were drilled testing the Kirana Break and associated IP anomaly in the central area of the property. Eleven holes totaling 2200 metres were drilled testing the Southern IP anomaly in the central area of the property. Seven holes totaling 905 metres were drilled testing the polymetallic mineralization and IP anomalies in the Mallard Lake area in the eastern end of the property. The remaining holes tested gold showings in the Links and Sutton area. Refer to www.northerngold.ca for maps showing the location of these areas on the property. To date 10,539 metres out of the 13,524 metres drilled have been logged with 2715 metres remaining to be logged. Of the 82 drill holes completed in this program, logging has been completed on 72 drill holes. Recent results from this drill program are summarized in the following table. ------------------------------------------------------------------- HOLE # TARGET FROM - TO (m) LENGTH (m) ASSAY (Au g/t - (ZONE) unless otherwise noted) ------------------------------------------------------------------- K08-25 Fidelity 59.5 - 61.0 1.5 0.48 ------------------------------------------------------------------- K08-31 Fidelity Deep 523.0 - 524.0 1.0 0.55 ------------------------------------------------------------------- K08-32 Fidelity Deep 157.4 - 158.4 1.0 1.17 ------------------------------------------------------------------- K08-40 Fidelity NA NA NSA ------------------------------------------------------------------- K08-41 Fidelity NA NA NSA ------------------------------------------------------------------- K08-42 Fidelity 29.5 - 31.0 1.5 0.27 ------------------------------------------------------------------- K08-44 Fidelity 98.5 - 100.0 1.5 0.21 ------------------------------------------------------------------- K08-49 Fidelity 123.0 - 123.6 0.6 4.05 123.0 - 124.1 1.1 2.68 ------------------------------------------------------------------- K08-52 South IP East 27.7 - 28.1 0.4 0.17 (64E) ------------------------------------------------------------------- K08-60 Kirana Break 115.1 - 115.6 0.5 1.92 (50E) 221.2 - 222.0 0.8 1.17 ------------------------------------------------------------------- K08-61 Kirana Break 86.0 - 86.6 0.6 1.51 (50E) 87.5 - 88.0 0.5 2.33 90.0 - 90.5 0.5 2.33 86.0 - 90.5 4.5 0.95 114.0 - 115.0 1.0 2.74 ------------------------------------------------------------------- K08-62 Kirana Break NA NA NSA (48E) ------------------------------------------------------------------- K08-65 Kirana Break 158.0 - 159.0 1.0 0.69 (52E) ------------------------------------------------------------------- K08-68 Kirana Break 111.0 - 112.0 1.0 1.03 (54E) 122.5 - 123.0 0.5 1.03 ------------------------------------------------------------------- K08-71 Kirana Break 52.3 - 52.7 0.4 0.55 (58E) ------------------------------------------------------------------- K08-73 Kirana Break 35.2 - 35.5 0.3 0.62 (62E) ------------------------------------------------------------------- K08-75 Mallard Lake 88.0 - 89.0 1.0 1.13 ------------------------------------------------------------------- K08-76 Mallard Lake 43.8 - 44.2 0.4 0.90 44.6 - 44.9 0.3 55.0 g/t Ag 44.6 - 44.9 0.3 0.3% Cu 44.2 - 44.6 0.4 4.4 % Pb ------------------------------------------------------------------- K08-77 Mallard Lake 61.1 - 61.5 0.4 0.16 ------------------------------------------------------------------- K08-80 South IP East NA NA NSA (71E) ------------------------------------------------------------------- K08-81 South IP East 21.0 - 22.0 1.0 0.25 (73E) ------------------------------------------------------------------- K08-93 Mallard Lake 45.1 - 46.0 0.9 0.41 ------------------------------------------------------------------- NA equals not applicable, NSA equals no significant assays Work has begun on the Fredrick House Lake Project in the Timmins, Ontario area to prepare ice pads for a diamond drill program proposed for the winter of 2009. Northern Gold Mining Inc. has implemented a quality assurance and control (QA/QC) program to ensure sampling and analysis of all exploration work is conducted in accordance with the best possible practices. The rock samples collected were sent to either the accredited Polymet Laboratories in Cobalt, Ontario or Swastika Laboratories in Swastika, Ontario, and analyzed using the appropriate gold fire assaying technique. For QA/QC purposes the Company submits blanks and standards every 50 samples. Approximately 5% of sample rejects and/or pulps will be sent to a different lab from the lab which ran the original assay for check assaying. Results of this technical work and the sampling procedures have been reviewed by R.V. Zalnieriunas P.Geo., an independent consulting geologist who is the "Qualified Person" as defined by NI 43-101 for this project. |
