Mitsubishi Corporation Acquires Common Shares Of Northern Dynasty Minerals Limited

December 12, 2008, Toronto, Canada - Mitsubishi Corporation(“MC”) announced today that it acquired 1,157 common shares of Northern Dynasty Minerals Limited (“NDM”) (TSX: NDM/ NYSE Alternext:NAK) through market purchases over the TSX and NYSE Alternext(former Amex), representing approximately 0.00125% of the issued and outstanding common shares of NDM. Together with common shares already owned, MC now owns 9,254,365 common shares of NDM, representing approximately 10.0% of the issued and outstanding common shares of NDM.

The common shares were acquired for investment purposes. In the future, depending on market conditions and other factors, MC may purchase additional NDM common shares or sell common shares.
