HOOV - What is off topic vs on topic

Hoov you have asked for input on what is off topic and what is on topic.

Attached is a copy of a previous post I made on the topic.

I will be very brief.

Noway had 2 recent posts regarding the First nations of Webiquie and the Chinese involvement in Nickel. Both these posts provided important info that is pertinent to Noront as a possible nickel producer near Webiquie and belong on the main board.

However many posts do not provide any new information that is pertinent to Noront or any other RoF player. These include posters that simply say thanks to another poster. Stuff like that is only important to the 2 individuals and should be in a pm.

Often news releases and events from other companies in the ring have a potential impact on Noront. Lets face it if KWG/Cliffs develops a rail link it will affect Noront.

I received a lot of negative feedback for reporting on the strike at Vale Inco but as you can see it has had a significant impact on the price of Nickel. Can you deny that this has an impact on Noront?

IMHO it is difficult to say that events in the entire ring do not impact on Noront. This is where some judgement is required.

My own personal pet peeve is that people are often too long winded and use very little white space in their posts. With all the posts that we are getting it takes a long time to read them all. Please choose your words carefully and say what you mean in as few words as possible.

I believe that Hoov and I agree on the main irritant. Many posts are of the nature that they should be in a PM not on either the main board or on the OT board.

Most people are not interested in reading peoples personal comments regarding other posters & posts. You do not post your letters to your mother on the board so why should you post PM's on the board?

Following is my previous post which is still valid IMHO.

I do not have the time to read through mounds of uniformative editorial to get to the few posts that have useful content.

I know that some people including Hoov take the time to wade through all the BS because they don't want to miss something important. That's why people like Hoov are becoming frustrated.

IMHO the purpose of the board is to be a tool in doing due dilligence. Most of the stuff on this board lately bears no resemblance to that definition.

Unfortunately I am at the point where I only read posts by certain people that I have come to know have good content. The rest I ignore. This is very unfortunate because not that long ago this was a very useful board.

Please try to remember what the intention of this board was in the first place before you make a post.

Personally I think it is time for George and Agoracom to intervene and set some hard and fast rules regarding acceptable content.

Sorry if these comments offend anyone but it seems I am not alone in this thinking.
