I have a family member who. as a vp human resources at a financial institution at a salary of 260,000. a year said she was just a "peon".

This "peon" has a condo in Yorkville in Toronto, and a lot of this financial institution's stock. Recently, at 58, she has taken an early retirement, unable to any longer want to cope with the internal workings of her job. And, believe it or not, is worried about the rest of her life.
