The Final, final call for the NOT GOLF Tournament & Details

posted on Sep 12, 2008 02:57AM

Okay, after PM'ing many of the interested golfers, for the best date to pick, the consensus is for next Saturday, Sept. 20th.

This is short notice for anyone new reading about the golf tournament, but it has been posted a few times in total, in here and in the main discussion forum, along with a number of replies to the posts.

So I hope that we can get a few more interested. we almost have enough to call it a tournament and get some 'perks' from the golf course. Okay, so here are the details......

Saturday, Sept. 20th at 12:15 PM is the tee off. We'd want everyone there at least a half hour prior to tee off time.

The golf course is Caledon Golf Club, where I play regularly and already run an annual tournament there. It is located on Peel Rd. #12, between Hwy. 10 & Mississauga Rd., just outside of the town of Inglewood, ONT, which is about 30 -40 minutes NW of the Toronto Airport.

The course is in excellent condition and the greens are fast. The yardage isn't long, at only 6420 from the back tees, but the course is quite challenging. It's also very picturesque. Bring your cameras.

It will be a Team Scramble format. Everyone on the team hits their tee shot, then you pcik the best and go on from there, using the same format, until the ball is in the hole. I have been in many of these scramble formats and regardless of the calibre of player, everyone's shots are used at some point and more than just a few.

I have already asked everyone for their calibre pf play and so I have a good idea from most, on how they play, so as to match up the teams as fairly as is possible. So, anyone new who is interested, please provide those details as well.

The cost is $125.00 per person and that includes a lot. You get your round and shared golf car, plus a fabulous roast beef dinner, with roasted potatoes and veggies. I am also negotiating to get some free golf balls thrown in for everyone.

In addition, we want to give out prizes, for everyone, is possible. There will be a closest to the NOT-Pin prize (on a par 3 hole) and a longest NOT-Drive prize on a par five hole (must be in the fairway).

And so, we would also ask that everyone chip in another $15-20 for prizes. Caledon's Pro Shop has a great sale on right now and they've promised to put away some stuff for me, so I'd get the prizes right from the golf course (much easier and the prices are right).

That totals about $140-$145 for an excellent day & early evening.

Now, I have to let Caledon know today, how many we have for the 1st Annual NOT GOlf Tournament.

So far, we have, Glorieux, QQGirl, DonnyParks, abbibun, billstrong, Repairman and wife, Mustangman & wife (maybe), storm (maybe), strato & strato-wife, two buddies of mine who are NOT-holders (John, Tino) and we are still hoping that someone from Noront's office will be in attendance, for the whole day or just for dinner & drinks.

It'll be a lot of fun and a chance to put some faces to the typed words. Hope that some more of you are interested.

Please PM me if you are and/or have any questions. Thanks !
