....to power the eventual off-grid mines in the Ring of Fire...One has to wonder. Northern Ontario does not seem like the best place for a solar or wind farm. Perhaps a hydroelectric dam coupled with a full functional hydrogen electrolyser to create green hydrogen gas could be possible, but at what cost...and where? On the otherhand could it be that the First Nations may change their minds about SMR technology...Where am I going with this...Well...It would appear BHP is doing something that in many ways we should expect Forrest to do in the Ring of Fire, which will be to follow his own green mining mantra and shut down the First Nation opposition he will be facing. The Matawa and Mushkegowuk First Nations must be shown the holistic approach he has planned for the Ring of Fire that will avoid harming the environment, the animals and the Indigenous people of the North. BHP may have the advantage so far in Australia with Tesla, but with Noront and the Ring of Fire soon to be under Wyloo's control Andrew stands to control the predominant supplies of nickel and chrome here in North America, and even those destined for the EU; responsible ESG supply chain.
The article below is just one example of the great lengths and expense BHP is willing to go to find, and develope, nickel assets in Australia for their pal Elon. Could it be that Elon has another pal in North America...Very likely...and the name of that pal may in fact be "Andrew Forrest". As is said, "Like minds think alike". But in this case one has a much greener mind than the other...and he will have to do whatever it takes to win over the First Nations of Ontario's North. If BHP wants to best Elon's soon to be North American pal than now is the time to do it, because it's looking like powering remote locations with renewables is not an issue. BHP here in the article below is showing us that this is NOT the issue, but that the First Nations in our Ring of Fire scenario could be; IMO. Only if Wyloo has a truly holistic plan to develop the Ring will they be able to circumvent this First Nation opposition issue where our government cannot; taxpayer funding solution. That issue for Wyloo I believe is just a matter of creative negotiation and assurrances.

....On Tuesday, TransAlta Energy announced that it has begun construction on one of the world's largest off-grid mining solar and battery energy storage systems to power BHP's Nickel West Mount Kit and Leinster operation, which will supply nickel to Tesla. The Northern Goldfields Solar Project, which was announced last year, includes a 27.4 MW solar farm at Mt Keith, a 10.7 MW solar farm and a 10.1 MW battery at Leinster, and will be integrated into TransAlta’s Northern Goldfields remote power grid.
The project, which will replace power currently supplied by diesel and gas, will help BHP's Nickel West reduce scope 2 emissions at its Mt Keith and Leinster operations by 12% resulting in an estimated reduction of 54,000 tonnes CO2-e per annum. The first solar power is expected to be produced by November 2022. BHP Nickel West Asset President Jessica Farrell said BHP was meeting its commitment to deliver sustainable low carbon nickel to its customers....
