..and then add the rest of what Noront has to offer. Even the experts know...Stable jurisdiction + stable supply + ESG compliance = extremely valuable asset.
Quote from the article I posted from Stockhead.com:
“A large-scale, bulk mineable nickel deposit in a tier one jurisdiction is therefore going to be quite valuable.”
For all intent and purposes it would not be to Elon Musk's advantage to be bound by any agreement to partner with any mining company. But, instead, he has shown that supply agreements are more of what he is looking for. Something stable, looks to the future, and creates endless supplies of nickel. Elon is a man who thinks ahead, and only strikes when the time is right to do so. To opt to involve himself in the Goro mine in New Caledonia means he must have a solution to their ESG dilemma. I am saying this because to take on the ire of every global environmentalist by investing in such a dirty HPAL system in New Caledonia is ballsy. We're talking about a mine whose tailings pond could wipe out vast areas of marine life. This is quite a gamble to his reputation for claiming to invlove himself only in environmentally sustainable nickel operations. Goro, IMO, is far from stable. But again, it commands a measurable percentage of the nickel market on the other side of the globe.
So, conversely, if I was Elon Musk I would want to duplicate this sort of control of the nickel markets on the opposite side of the globe as well. When one looks at the other side of the globe, IMO, one cannot help but point to Canada as holding the comparative equal to New Caledonia in many respects when focusing on nickel supply. But unlike our New Caledonia equal we, Noront will possess what they do not, and what many of our other competitors here in Canada do not. We have a vision of ESG compliance that goes one step further. The repurposing of our tailings as cement fill which will go back into our mines; correct me if wrong. There will be no tailings ponds, or in the case of Goro, lakes of toxic waste. So, Noront actually has the potential to offer Elon a far greater opportunity to start anew with something New Caledonia cannot offer him....A clean conscience.
That in itself is priceless.
The same goes for BHP...If they're listening.
