Maybe some of the buying before Wyloo's $1.10 offer was friends of BHP that will, or already have, tendered? 

And buying more now, and tendering to themselves, might set BHP up for a future takeout.

Seems kinda sneaky, but it might work, and would probably be cheaper than buying all of NOT for whatever Wyloo's said they wanted.
