Summary:
Expressions of Interest are invited from Canadian legal firms to provide legal advice to the Matawa Chiefs Council and
Matawa First Nations Management in the following areas of law: Crown of Canada/Ontario, Treaty (specifically James Bay
Treaty No. 9) and aboriginal rights, the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), land
and resource management, federal and provincial duty to consult, taxation, revenue options and corporate structuring.
Qualifications / Requirements:
Expressions of Interest must include legal firm details and experience, team members identified, examples of progressive
areas of work in the various field(s), and rates including travel time and per diems as required; as well as a brief proposal
outlining general approach for the technical team and Matawa Chiefs Council consideration.
