Great that BHP is looking into carbon capture and storage. But that just further shows how Forrest and BHP do not think alike and might be at loggerheads to one another. BHP believes in CCUS...But Forrest believes in hydrogen. In fact, Forrest calls CCUS bunk, and that it's all just a smoke and mirrors approach to reaching carbon-zero targets. Not believing in CCUS would be a definite problem in any relationship between them for sure. Likewise BHP would probably see Forrest's belief in hydrogen as a virtual money pit best left to others to research and develope.
My point being is if a JV forms between these two, which is highly unlikely, than one company will always worry about the aspirations of the other. While one is devoting efforts to saving the planet at all costs will the other have to worry about them devoting too much capital to this cause...And if the other drags its heels over protecting the planet than will the other be at constant odds to decisions that put profit over conservation. I can't see it working out without compromise. But one thing is for sure...Forrest's views of the "New World" are the same as his views of the "New Noront"...He feels the world needs to make drastic changes to achieve carbon neutrality and for Noront drastic changes to the BOD and company operations to achieve prosperity...BHP on the other hand seems happy with maintaining the status quo...
Which leads me to believe that together BHP and Wyloo would appear to be like mixing oil with water...It just won't work.
