Does anyone know more about this? At one point, it says the natives "Webequie First Nation must provide the Agency with the information or studies that are set out in the Tailored Impact Statement Guidelines, within three years from the date of the Notice of Commencement."
Does this mean we are delayed 3 years?
Hello,
Thank you for your participation in the federal impact assessment for the Webequie Supply Road Project. On February 24, 2020, the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (the Agency) posted a Notice of Commencement on the Canadian Impact Assessment Registry Internet site (the Registry) regarding an impact assessment pursuant to the Impact Assessment Act (IAA) for the Webequie Supply Road Project (the Project). The Project is now in the impact statement phase of the federal impact assessment. The following documents are posted on the Registry (available at https://iaac-aeic.gc.ca/050/evaluations/proj/80183):
· Tailored Impact Statement Guidelines
· Public Participation Plan
· Indigenous Engagement and Partnership Plan
· Cooperation Plan with the Province of Ontario
· Permitting Plan
For further information on how the Agency considered comments from the public, Indigenous groups, the province and federal departments the Agency has prepared a Summary Table of Comments. The Summary Table of Comments can be found as an attachment to the February 24, 2020 letter to Webequie First Nation from the Agency on the Project’s registry page.
Next Steps
Webequie First Nation, the proponent, must engage with Indigenous groups and the public, collect information and conduct studies to develop the Impact Statement, as outlined in the Tailored Impact Statement Guidelines. Pursuant to section 19(1) of IAA, Webequie First Nation must provide the Agency with the information or studies that are set out in the Tailored Impact Statement Guidelines, within three years from the date of the Notice of Commencement.
The Agency will continue to engage with the public throughout the impact statement phase of the Project to increase awareness of the impact assessment process and to seek comments on the proponent’s Impact Statement. For more detail on proposed opportunities for public participation during the impact assessment process, including expected activities and time frames, please see the Public Participation Plan on the Project’s Registry page.
Participant Funding
Funding to support public participation is available during the impact assessment process. Applications for funding will be made available to the public during the impact statement phase. These participant-funding opportunities will support the public to comment on the proponent’s Impact Statement as well as the Agency’s draft Impact Assessment Report and potential conditions. For information about the activities that are eligible for funding or to apply for funding, see the National Program Guidelines and application on the following page: https://www.canada.ca/en/environmental-assessment-agency/services/public-participation/participant-funding-application-environmental-assessment.html
Please indicate if you would like to stop receiving communications from the Agency regarding this project. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me at 416-476-5476 or by email at IAAC.Webequie.AEIC@canada.ca.
Thank you for your continued participation in the impact assessment process.
Sincerely,
Caitlin Cafaro
