Good afternoon - Please find an update regarding the Webequie Supply Road from the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada below:

Re:    Summary of Issues for the Webequie Supply Road Project posted on the Canadian Impact Assessment Registry

The Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (the Agency) conducted comment periods from July 23, 2019, to August 12, 2019, and from September 11, 2019, to October 1, 2019, to invite participants to provide their perspective on any issues that they consider relevant in relation to the Webequie Supply Road (the Project).

The Summary of Issues document, which reflects the comments received by the Agency, was submitted to Webequie First Nation (the proponent) on October 11, 2019 and is available on the Canadian Impact Assessment Registry internet site together with all written submissions received from Indigenous groups and the public (Reference #80183 at https://iaac-aeic.gc.ca/050/evaluations/document/132910 ).

Next steps: Pursuant to subsection 15(1) of the Impact Assessment Act (IAA), the proponent must provide the Agency with a Detailed Project Description that sets out how it intends to address the issues in the Summary of Issues and includes the information described in the Information and Management of Time Limits Regulations (the Regulations). The Agency has requested the proponent to submit the Detailed Project Description by November 10, 2019. The proponent may request more time in accordance with subsection 18(5) of IAA and subsection 2(a) of the Regulations.

The Summary of Issues and Webequie First Nation’s responses will be used to inform the Agency’s decision on whether to require an impact assessment for the Project, and to inform the Tailored Impact Statement Guidelines, should an assessment be required.

Kind regards,

Caitlin Cafaro, Crown Consultation Coordinator
