Matthew Dupuis, is the chief of the Red Rock Indian Band, and also the president of Supercom Industries.

From Luker's recent post:

Supercom Industries is the contracting and training joint venture run by six First Nation communities on the north shore of Lake Superior across whose traditional land the power line project crosses.

Below (see attached after text) is a link to a past article, in which Dupuis comments on the importance of the E-W Tie Line and is quoted as saying, "This is a link to create everything that they say they want to do, and yet there’s no urgency given to it."

The article goes on to state that ......".....Dupuis said repeated calls and letters by community stakeholders into Minister of Energy, Northern Development and Mines, and Minister of Indigenous Affairs Greg Rickford’s office have gone unanswered.

“This (project) affects every single one of his ministries.”

Dupuis emphasized that all the major development projects in northwestern Ontario and the Far North – such as the Ring of Fire and Watay Power – are reliant on the East-West Tie being completed......"

Comment:

I guess now that NextBridge has been awarded the East-West Tie Line project that we should see a further introduction of its value in respect to the Ring of Fire.  Not to mention that the project also has Minister Greg Rickford's attention, and that Greg and his people are no doubt interested in more than just the transmission of electricity between Wawa, Thunder Bay and everywhere in between.  When seen in illustration (see page 12 of PDF attached) the proposed power line connection to the Ring of Fire that would extend from the East-West Tie Line, originating from Marathon, Ontario, follows in close relation to the proposed North-South road from Nakina to the same mining district.  My suspicion here is that any environmental assessment of the North-South road to the Ring of Fire has also taken into account this power transmission line coming from the East-West Tie.

So, with Rickford now on the case, will we, as Dupuis has suggested, could be receiving not only one announcement, but possibly two (road and power).  Even with this notion in mind I still cannot rule out Mushkegowuk as possible third announcement (rail) later.  One thing for sure, this is a piece of the puzzle.  Whether it fits, or not, Rickford is giving me the sense that this whole thing is taking a different direction....But at least everything happening is a good indication of positive movement....and impending Ring announcements.

2) PDF on the East-West Tie Line and Ring of Fire (power/road) relationship

(see page 12):

Again, past articles on this subject have suggested that the point of origin for extension of the E-W Tie to the Ring of Fire should originate from the Marathon, Ontario sub-station.  However, I am having difficulty right now finding that article.
