Hey Noront, "where's the chromite feasibility we were supposed to have ages ago??"

"It was during his closing remarks that candidate Pirie outlined his position.
“I firmly hope we get the ferrochrome smelter with Noront. But I tell you, the people I would be sitting beside negotiating with Noront would have been the Indigenous people of the traditional territory where that facility would be located,” said Pirie.
“They’re the partner of choice for me. They will be the eventual decision maker. They’ve got to be beside our side.”

George Pirie, ended up winning the position of mayor of Timmins
Dec. 28, 2018
“In no specific order, there is Noront. We know they will be making an announcement (on the location of their ferrochrome smelter) sometime in the new year. I do believe they have the advocate for the road and the province is working very, very diligently to make all things happen when it comes to Noront.
“We know we are in a very good position and we are cautiously optimistic on that proposal. It is a very, very good proposal that was put together with total community support.
“Goldcorp (Porcupine Gold Mines) will be advancing toward a feasibility study on its Century Pit. Everybody in the community will be, of course, anxiously awaiting that and most people will be very, very pleased to see where the gold price is as we are in the last week of 2018. It’s approaching US$1,300, which is inching up to probably $1,800 or $1,900 Canadian.
“That is a very good price if you are working on a gold project of that magnitude.
“It has been a magnificent ore body and Goldcorp has a talented group of engineers, geologists, administrative and service people who are working diligently with local champions to make that happen.
“Again, we are cautiously optimistic that project will be approved.
“The Hollinger Project will, I believe, be completed in 2020-21 or 2021-22, so the new Century Pit, if it is approved, dovetail very nicely with the closure of the Hollinger Pit, all good news for the community.”
While Glencore’s Kidd Mine is nearing the end of its life, Pirie is hopefully its demise might still be a little ways off.
“Glencore is working very diligently trying to extend the mine life of the Kidd deposit,” he said.
“They will have a new manager coming in at some point in the new year and we will be looking forward to getting updates, as they progress toward trying to extend the mine life.
“The mineralized zone is literally mantle-breaking. It is a classic hydrothermal vent. It is wide and the grades are good. The challenge is just associated with the technology of extracting that mineralized rock profitably.”
