The lands that were signed over to Canada with the understanding that the people of the land were going to be part of Canada and be the same as the rest of those who were coming to the land. Those who wanted the areas that they live in to remain theirs and who saw no need for what was under the ground. Funny how things change from what I was told, living on a reserve when I was a child, to what I hear now. I was always told that everyone was Canadian and to insist that so not to lose the benifits that were given. Now the story changes to be non-canadian to get better benifits 60 years later.
