Government's Ring Of Fire Planning Process Attacked

Two First Nations located in the proposed Ring of Fire mining development are trashing the Wynne Liberals for making private deals with two other communities in the area.

The chiefs of Neskantaga and Eabametoong have condemned what they called the secret meetings with Marten Falls and Webequie First Nations and demanded a re-set to the process

However, during a Chamber of Commerce election debate, Liberal MPP Michael Gravelle suggested the process is slow and will get done noting the project is in a remote area of the province and it's important  they "get it right."

Derek Parks of the Progressive Conservatives criticized the Liberals for not moving fast enough on the Ring of Fire while the NDP's Lise Vaugeois believes the project can't move ahead until it's environmentally sound.

(From my understanding, Noront and everyone else has followed every environmental guideline put forward. If NDP want more, we may be buckled in for another 4 years until someone comes into power who will get something done. My hope is for PC.)
