8. What are your thoughts on the Ring of Fire?

You mean the single-greatest opportunity Ontario has seen in a generation? I think our current government's focus is the vote-rich GTA and not the resource-rich North. The NOP would fight to bring the Ring of Fire into production as soon as possible. We would start by forming investment partnerships with mining companies and gather all concerned parties (business people, environmentalist, and First Nations leaders) together to move forward. Our party would assist in building the required infrastructure, including access roads and/or a rail line from Nakina. More than that, we would insist that all provincially funded builders/developers be sourced from Northern Ontario and negotiate for value-added industries to be located in the North.
