There might not any specific mention of the Ring of Fire in the federal budget, but Nickel Belt MP Marc Serre says the feds are still committed to it.  Serre says the remote region is missing critical things like power infrastructure and broadband.  He says this is what the feds are focusing and working on, so the mining companies at the site can do what they do best which is to focus on exploration and extraction.  Serre also believes what will eventually be needed at the Ring of Fire is a road-rail combination to extract the chromite and other metals.   He says in the meantime the feds are talking with the province about the road work project.   Serre says the federal government has been spending money to help develop the Ring of Fire including spending $69-million last year to install much-needed broadband technology.
