My Comment:
Once again, I find it very frustrating to see that politics are getting in the way of progress and economic prosperity. Our First Nations in Northern Ontario have been asking for sometime now to partner with both our Provincial and Federal Governments, so that all people can be health and prosper here in Canada. Not just in Ontario. They have been asking for many of their own issues to be addressed and in return they have come to the table to discuss and sign the necessary agreements. Agreements that will allow the First Nations and the rest of Canada to share in the riches found underground in Northern Ontario; namely the Ring of Fire. By sharing we can all enjoy prosperity for many years to come. In return, the only promise we must make to our First Nations is ..."Reconciliation, First Nation Self-governance, and Revenue Sharing".
For too long have our First Nations lived in a welfare state dealing with a lack of clean drinking water, pollution due to diesel power generation in remote communities, road deterioration due to climate change, drug and alcohol addiction....and the list goes on. The time has come for the both of us to form a binding partnership. A partnership of trust and equal respect. It's time to breakdown the barrier that exists between Northern and Southern Ontario, and stop talking like we are two separate provinces within a province, or with a them and us attitude. Time to grow up...and I say this to the First Nations, Ontario and Canada. Quit wasting time talking about it and actually do something. Our nations are depending on it.
