Message: Deep drilling

I recall a post in which Hoov posted that Wes hanson told him it was believed that the convergence zone started at the 1700m level.

There is stuff below from the past that I still think about.

Exploration Update:

Eagle’s Nest Deep

The Company has terminated deep drilling at the Eagle’s Nest Complex due to continued difficulties in completing wedged holes from NOT-10-094.

Hole NOT-10-094 drilled beneath the intersection reported in NOT-10-085-W2 returned a borehole geophysical target indicating that the Eagle’s Nest deposit continues at depth but the mineralization trends to the south west. The Company lost three attempted wedge holes targeting the geophysical target. In light of the inability to complete these deep wedge holes and the high costs associated with this type of drilling, the Company has decided to terminate the deep drilling program while it re-evaluates various alternatives.

Notice wedge hole mineralization was reported from 1147.5m to 1350.8m

NOT-10-085-W2

1147.5

1350.8

203.3

1.69

1.01

Then, …there came “technical difficulties from wedges drilled from hole 94

Hole 94 was drilled beneath the intersection reported  in Not-10-085-W2…

==================================================

But, check out this post …so did the drills go to 1700M?????? Did hole 85 go to 1700M? Or did hole 94 drilled from beneathe hole 85 continue to 1700m?

Peter Marshall's post from AGM Oct. 2010

https://agoracom.com/ir/Noront/forums/discussion/topics/448209-agm-conversation-with-jeremy-niemi/messages/1459689

The second deep drill which did hole 85 had a total drill depth of 1700M when it moved south of Eagle’s Nest. lt is now drilling hole 189 ( a new naming system , I think).

Eagle’s Nest Deep Drilling:

Notice the higher grades of Platinum and Palladium with W2 which was deeper.

“Hole NOT-10-085-W1 intersected 104.7 metres averaging 1.66% Ni, 0.81% Cu(previously reported) with 0.96 g/t Pt and 3.78 g/t Pd;

Hole NOT-10-085-W2 intersected 203.3 metres averaging 1.69% Ni, 1.01% Cu(previously reported) with 1.30 g/t Pt and 4.12 g/t Pd;

Noront’s President and CEO, Wes Hanson, notes: “The elevated platinum, palladium and gold may be indicative of a layered intrusive complex, similar to what is typical of the Bushveld Complex in South Africa, an interpretation supported by our Technical Advisory Board. This footwall discovery of a zone enriched precious metals demonstrates the significant exploration potential at our McFaulds Lake Project.”

From March 4, 2011

During 2010, the Company drilled 20,200 metres at Eagle’s Nest. The drilling was focused on improving the confidence and classification of previous resources estimates through in-fill drilling. In addition, the 2010 program also aimed at expanding the deposit at depth based on a drilling program. Despite challenges in the deep drilling program, the Company was successful in both objectives.

The extent of the mineralization now extends to a depth of approximately1,650 metres from surface

The Eagle’s Nest resource includes inferred resource along strike and down dip below 1,100 metres providing significant potential for further resource growth. It is anticipated that the nickel grade of the inferred resource will increase during further delineation drilling. Due to the depth of this inferred resource, further drilling on this target will be more effective from an advanced exploration program utilizing an underground exploration ramp

==========================================================

so, what is correct....

Was the eagles nest drilled to 1700m as was told to Peter Marshall.

Or is the "approximate 1650m" correct from the Noront NR? Did drill hole 85 go to 1700m as stated by Niemi to Peter Marshall? Or was drill hole 94 beneathe 85 the drill hole that went to 1700m or approx. 1650m????

March 4, 2011, Noront’s NR stated: The extent of the mineralization now extends to a depth of approximately 1,650 metres from surface.

This is where I am really confused. According to what was told to Peter Marshall by Jerry Niemi (Noront’s geologist at the time), hole 85 went to 1700m and then the drill moved south.

The Noront NR, showed mineralization values from hole 85 w1 & w2 . When I look at the 85 W2 I seen the mineralized values from 1147.5 to 1350.8 m.

So, then I am thinking …was there no mineralization from 1350.8 to 1700m from hole 85??

Or …did hole 85w2 stop at 1350.8 meters??

But, then I go back at look at the Sept. 28, 2010 Noront NR…and read the following:

.”Hole NOT-10-094 drilled beneath the intersection reported in NOT-10-085-W2 returned a borehole geophysical target indicating that the Eagle’s Nest deposit continues at depth

The Company has terminated deep drilling at the Eagle’s Nest Complex due to continued difficulties in completing wedged holes from NOT-10-094

My final questions are…since there was more mineralization past the 1350.8m mark …what were the values?? Did I miss seeing the results for Not-10-094?

I get that Noront lost three attempted wedge holes  from hole 094 but what was the mineralization from hole 094 since it was reported mineralization extends to approx.. 1650m?

Really weird to me how Wes believed the convergence zone started at 1700m……and yet…due to technical difficulties…the drilling stops at  “approximately 1650m from surface.”
