Greg Rickford is making a return to the political game - this time as the Progressive Conservative candidate for the Kenora-Rainy River district in the upcoming 2018 Ontario provincial election.

The longtime politician was last heard from in Oct. 2015 when he lost his federal seat in Kenora to Liberal Bob Nault in a tight race. Rickford was first elected to the House of Commons in the 2008 federal election and he served as the Minister of Natural Resources in Prime Minister Stephen Harper's cabinet.

Rickford celebrated his 50th birthday on Sept. 24 of this year.

The Kenora-Rainy River nomination meeting will be held Saturday, Nov. 18 in Dryden where Rickford is expected to be announced as the riding's PC candidate, according to multiple sources.
