Bob sums it up quite nicely in the article I have attached below.  Those closest to the Ring will be calling the shots, solely because its presence will have the most direct impact on their communities; environmental & socioeconomic.  Everyone else will just have to accept this. The Ring of Fire is, and should be, a separate issue that has nothing to do with the roads to their communites, boiling water advisories, infrastructure, power.....These are issues that have been deemed "needs", and are being addressed by the government(s).  These "needs" may or may not be associated with Ring of Fire. 

Instead, I believe jelousy and greed are at the heart of the anger and disagreements within Matawa, which once again are matters that must be dealt with in communication among themselves, and should not in any way deter from the socioeconomic progress being made.

Rae spoke about issues with the Ring of Fire and Marten Falls.“Marten Falls is absolutely central to the Ring of Fire because it’s the principle in the Ring of Fire, in the Regional Framework Agreement, that the nations that are the most directly impacted will have their influence felt and having Marten Falls playing a lead role is very important,” he said.

“It’s partly the First Nations talking to each other and the First Nations’ themselves coming up with answers and then it’s obviously negotiating with the province. It’s a process of give or take between the First Nations’ and give and take with the province, too.
