"lead by example"
I'm a great believer in the term. I'm also cognisant of the fact that you can't lead by example if nobody is paying attention. Sweeden initiated a carbon tax in the early 1990's. Did anybody pay attention? We are going to harm the Canadian economy at a time when it's already struggling.
Why don't we put an import tax on goods from high CO2 emitting countries? The tar sands are spewing millions of tons of CO2. Let's shut them down. Animal husbandry is a major cause of greenhouse gases and water pollution. Our oceans are dying from excessive animal waste. Let's all become vegetarians. Put up more wind and solar so that we can pay Quebec and the US to take our excess hydro while the average homeowner pays more than ever for electricity.
If we are going to tackle CO2 emissions we should consider all the options before we introduce one more tax. Does anybody know what the government will do with the tax $$?
