Attawapiskat Chief Bruce Shisheesh publically invited Tragically Hip frontman Gord Downie to the remote First Nation after Saturday's concert, saying that based on the Hip's song "Goodnight Attawapiskat" that "Gord has always had a special place in his heart" for the community.

Attawapiskat chief wants to honour Gord Downie in person on northern First Nation

Downie took him up on the offer yesterday, and found time to pose for pictures.

Catherine Cheechoo tweeted a picture of her standing with Downie, and said "& then this happened :O Much luv n thanks #GordDownie U r truly a kind soul."
