Today our Minister, Michael Gravelle, and Bill Mauro, Ontario’s Minister of Natural Resources and Forestry, met with Chief Wayne Moonias of Neskantaga First Nation to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The MOU outlines how we will realize the benefits of responsible mineral development in the Ring of Fire.

Under the agreement, Neskantaga First Nation and the province will work together to respond to key areas of interest identified by community members to support community readiness associated with potential developments in the Ring of Fire area.

Ontario remains committed to working with First Nations communities as partners to ensure they have the opportunity to shape and provide input into how the Ring of Fire development moves forward and benefit fully from sustainable natural resource development.
