No problem.

Here are a couple of other interesting statistics that really put Ontario and the Ring of Fire to shame.

The original discovery was made in 1956 and the first nickel shipments from the mine, mill and smelter/refinery complex was made in 1961. Only FIVE years later. Absolutely astonishing!

By 1965, not yet a full decade, the population hit 8,500 people. A connecting road was built in 1966. I suspect they had already built a rail spur by 1961 as nickel is too low cost to fly out! Remember, in 1956, there was just muskeg and bush!!

A bit more context. In the late 1950s - notwithstanding a mild recession in 57 or 58, the U.S. was booming, Europe was reconstructing from war and demand for nickel was exploding!

I know times have changed and we need to be more careful about the environment and First Nations issues are a priority, but almost 10 years after the Ring of Fire was discovered, we still can't get a road started, not build but just started!!

Shame on the provincial Liberals!
