I have to agree that most of what you have speculated seems entirely possible especially that part about the general "air of silence" recently regarding anything to do with the First Nations. In the past they have not remained silent when they have felt unjustly treated so with that and the recent surge in SP I must admit I've been feeling very twitchy (in a good way).
