Research Appiwatiskat - there people are living in squalor, burned front doors for heat, have new portable housing never implmented and the ones that were the original houses were sold by the elders for private money ... or something like that.

the budget is 8 billion dollars for the gov ministry for aboriginal affairs.. they have the money.. but when cheifs give themselves bonuses of 800K (documented) and the reservation has a boil water advisory there is a missing link here and it is transparency that the public has a right to see.

another issue (and this IS from an aboriginal who is living the good life off the reservation because he worked for it) is that monies paid to aboriginal companies to do work dissappears .. the work isnt done because of the lack of transperancy and oversight, and the populace suffers again.

the bonuses etc that are paid have been claimed due to consulting to some of these aboriginal companies. so u want a road fixed.. pay 1 million dollars, pay the consultant 500K and keep the rest. no road gets fixed is what he told me...

it isnt right but its kinda like a teenager who gets an allowance and mom wants to know where its being spent. If the teen says go F yourself, then no more allowance..

easy... but that wouldnt be PC now would it.

we all can make a difference somehow... I dont know how tho... other than writing to the elected officials... good luck with that!
