As much as I find it uncomfortable to defend a bureaucrat.
I disagree with the following Funkey:
"Gravelle has had an easy excuse, no longer the case."
Excuse perhaps but in no way easy. We all chastise him, and those like him, for lack of results, But Where are the suggestions as to How to obtain them? Negative criticism is easy but implementing solutions is not so.
Per previous poster on this topic, I consider the native communities, particularly those more distant from the Ring to be the major stumbling blockage. Note what little we hear from Webequie who should be the ones to benefit the most from the Ring if not the only ones. No not them, but the ones who should benefit the least or not at all that are causing the delays and perhas would physically impede. Remember the trivial excuses for the blockade we had just a few years back. Just imagine what is in store should the whole Ring be at stake.
No longer the case? Then what should he do? Bring in the OPP or RCMP and impose a solution? Was Ipperwash not enough for a lesson?
Yes a solution is at hand, but it may mean throwing out the baby with the wash water. We need to know the cost ahead of time when a decision is to be made. That is what both governments have been waiting for the last couple of years.
