I came across that article but refrained from posting it lest it went unchallenged and thus serve to add to the dismay of long-suffering NOT shareholders, at a time where our SP is suffering from severe inertia due to the double whammy of the summer doldrums and the lowest commodity prices since 2009. I read the article and took it to be good news…

No matter how conciliatory the Mushkegowuk group may be, they would still come to the table with their own personalities, motives and agendas. Before this group came along there existed enough moving (or perhaps more appropriately unmoving) cogs in the system. Hopefully now we have one less chef in the kitchen, one less sous-chef to stir the pot, and many less mouths to feed from the eventual stew. .

One has to wonder whether this group may have ruffled some feathers, as it galloped onto the scene positing as a white knight, and thereby perhaps stealing the thunder of those Mattawa first nations already long involved/invested in the ROF process (and possibly eliciting some insecurities amongst them and/or other existing players). I also wonder if there was pressure on them (Mushkegowuk) from the Mattawa first nations communities to back off.

The smart/politically savvy way for Mushkegowuk to then save face would be to proclaim that they are deprioritizing the ROF in order to focus on the other more pressing issues facing their communities, as espoused in the article.

Then again, maybe all of this supposition is merely wishful thinking on my part!

Cheers,

Luker
