Of course they have the right to profit from the land just as the rest of us.

It is stated in the treaty that they are. I happen to think that they want more and that is the cause of the current stale mate.

Also they are no more responsible for the land as the rest of the population. We want to extract the ores and not devastate the land in the process. Should accidents happen the miners are responsible for clean up and restoration.
