Noront Metal in Sudbury was founded by RN father in the 50s I believe.

Richards decision to go with the Noront name was a tribute to his father.

As an interesting aside, Paul Prasutto's father as a new immigrant to Canada was employed by Nemis sr, and as I heard it, Paul was a weekend fixture at the Noront plant.
