...and this is why I am a "closet native". I'm embarrassed by the actions of the Mattawa, and many other bands over the past few years. Look at what happened in Caledonia...where is our government to protect everyday Canadians? More importantly where are the morals...the entire town of Caledonia was held hostage over a tiny subdivision where they strategically waited for the houses to be built, then took it over, created a blockade, and squatted in the houses. They dug up the streets with an excavator, and knocked over hydro lines of a major corridor. Last time I checked, that was considered terrorism. Native Canadians, you can have my status card back, I prefer to live in a civilized society where we work together to move our country forward. Get a job and start contributing...it actually feels good to earn your keep. Government, (fed & prov) grow a pair and put an end to this. Terrorism and threats to our democratic society are unacceptable and should be dealt with accordingly. As for the statistic that natives receive 3 X more government assistance than the average Canadian is just sad. I thought racism was wrong, so why is it not an equal playing field for everyone? Media...shame on you for giving these spoiled children a voice. I'm all for promoting culture and good values, but using your race as a crutch to benefit you monetarily is not cool. Get with the program media, we need you to have some discretion as to promoting these delusional chiefs messages of race supremacy. Noront...good job at trying to play by some very one sided rules! I have faith it will all work out in the end.
