Coutts has invited them to propose anything that they want because he says that he is open to all possibilities BUT that does not meen that he will or is able to grant them whatever.
In any debate one has to accept the other persons proposals and opinions but both parties have to be willing to compromise their needs to reach concensus that both sides will profit.
If one side is inflexible then nothing gets done and status quo remains.
I think the natives have had more than enough of what was and that they should be ready to adapt to what the future has to offer.
In my opinion the future for Webequie, and perhaps a couple more villages near the Ring,
holds great promise. They only need to embrase it now instead of prolong their poverty.
