If Noront, arguably the poster child company for respectful First Nations consultation and engagement can be perceived/(mis-)characterized as falling short of consultation expectations, then it seems to me that it would be astoundingly easy for any and all other existing and potential resource companies (be they mining, forestry, etc), to dismiss any and all future investment possibilities in these regions as prohibitively untenable. Perhaps an outcome which would be welcome to those environmentalists or otherwise who might believe that economic development and environmental stewardship are as unmixable as oil and water.
