Inca,
It's fine to be out of the box, once in a while. But for this one, I would not see CLF taking over NOT and KWG. There are too many disadvantages/obstacles.
- Baosteel and RCF are in NOT corner, they will not (especially Baosteel) allow CLF TO.
- CLF is broke, and trying to have a cleaner balance sheet. It will not have $3.3B to undertake the RoF project.
- Even if CLF had the money it would not dare spending over $3B, given the current political, FN, EA climates in Ontario (the old CLF already said so when it decided to to the BT project on ice). Besides, KWG might act up and sue CLF over loss of opportunity (in the case CLF has its way to build the NS private road on KWG claims). CLF sharholders may have another class-action suit if their $Bs get stuck in the swamp of Northern Ontario.
- Perhaps, KWG has a deep pockets as a backer as well, and like Baosteel, they would not allow KWG to be taken over.
Too messy for an uncertain opportunity for CLF. Goncalves would say "why waste the time".
