Seems our little sp take down may be short lived. Although my impression is that we will continue to flounder until Wynne moves on her promises and this new upper hand that the FN have is prepared to shake hands with those who are willing to do business with them. We all know that the premise on developing the ROF is to be done with all respect being given to the environment first, the FN second, and business third. The key here is on improving both the social and economic status of all involved; enevitalbly. Business is business, and business relationships only work when all parties are treated fair and equitably according to the risks they take. In the case of the ROF all parties have agreed to put the environment first, and those wishing to move things forward have spent a lot of time and money in doing so. Noront as well as others have taken the time to nuture the trust of the FN, they have helped them with their social problems, empowered their people thru training to seek employment with them, and overall listened and acted on the need to change their lives for the better. Business aside one would have to say that where the governments have failed all these years the Canadian mining industry in the ROF has actually succeeded, making friends with the FN of Northern Ontario for the first time. It would be sad to see a power struggle between the FN, the government, and or the mining companies take what has been achieved thus far and throw it all away. Especially when we are so close to success on so many different levels.. IMHO.GLTA. Have a nice weekend. TM.
