"Anything at all from the AGM?"
I was there on June 4th. The meeting started on time, lead by chairman Parisotto. Following the usual voting paperworks, Mr Coutts appeared to deliver his 'wrap up' of the finishing year. I liked the way he started his speech, giving his first words to the "long time shareholders" in the room, thanking them for their strong and continuous support. I felt that we have a President which is clearly shareholders-oriented. Here is a summary of several topics which were adressed at the meeting (please forgive the probable inaccuracy of the exact wording, I took short notes only during the meeting):
1- EA delivered at 2013 end was the most important step for the company since discovery. A key event on the mine way. They alreaday received some feedback from the Feds: good reception, they asked for more info, mainly wildlife concern, etc... Nothing from the Province: they wait for the regional agreement (I have a note regarding Matawas, I think agreement with them has been reached or underways?? Not sure...). The Regional Framework (Rae-Iacobucci) will be another key event for the RoF development. With Cliffs off siding, Noront is now first and ready to lead the way.
2- Nickel first, yes, but chromite not far behind. Noront is absolutely committed to mine their chromite. The 2 properties are about 500 meters from each other and a modest, bulk, environment-friendly underground operation is to be proposed.
3- Exploration potential is huge and Mr Coutts affirmed that what we have discovered now is only the tip of the iceberg. With the infrastructures coming, first mining activities, corporate involvement the costs will decrease substancially which will attract more drillings. Noront is working on an exploration program proposal for the next winter season. (I felt everyone in the room was happy to hear this)
4- Nickel price ups and downs due to world situationand conflicts. He expects to see strong nickel price by end 2014, beginning of 2015. Palladium prices are soaring, good for Noront.
5- Infrastructures expected to be completed by end of 2015. They priviledge the East-West road but stay open to other proposal or development.
VoilĂ ! Not much new there, except for the tone I guess. Noront is a young company, with strong financiers supporting, dedicated to be the first group to open a mine in one of the richest area in the Country. These guys are serious, proud and achieving - I am sure that we will never hear again the 'under-the-radar' motto! Else, I feel the plane is roaring and ready to throttle up the leave the ground!

(I was lucky to seat besides three loyal and charming Noront cheerleaders (!!!). It was a pleasure to have a chat with Kim, Maureen and Helen, and to put a face on nicknames. The ladies seemed disappointed not to find any trace of burning breading hair on mine!!)
