Mr. Couillard’s first speech as Premier was not all warm and fuzzy, though. He began with a warning that the economic challenges ahead for Quebec threaten the livelihood of future generations.
“Quebec is faced with profound, structural issues that go beyond a change of government. In short, we have been spending beyond our means for a long time,” he said. He rhymed off the sobering stats to prove it: Quebec has the highest public debt, the most government spending and the highest taxes in Canada. Every year, there are more experienced workers retiring than young ones entering the labour market.
“We thus have to act with strength, courage and determination to correct a situation that represents a threat for the quality of life of current and future generations,” he said. “Ladies and gentlemen, it is no longer time for marginal, cosmetic measures. ROF infrastructure investment already endorsed.
This post in response to the all to frequent and unsubstantiated, uninformed political posts on this board.
Ontario's current financial, structural, health is as bad as Quebec's. Only the Election of PC in Ontario will guarantee and trigger fed financial support of ROF infrastructure.
